Rostra UK Limited

Rostra UK Limited, based in Yorkshire, is a start up company which will offer minimally invasive treatment of clinically referred patients with varicose vein problems via both static and mobile treatment units.

The company, formed by a management team with a strong medical background, will target the larger NHS trusts and hospitals, which tend to have extensive waiting lists for such non-urgent treatments.

One of the innovative procedures, which is widely used in the USA, takes the form of dealing with the problem with laser rather than the traditional surgical removal, and is therefore less painful with a reduced recovery time, meaning no general anaesthetic or hospital visit is required. The procedure is also more likely to produce a lasting satisfactory result.

On receiving a referral letter from the patient’s GP, of all those suitable for the treatments provided by Rostra, 70% of patients will be treated within four weeks and 95% within eight weeks. Patients treated through the Rostra model of care will be offered their initial outpatient appointment, diagnosis, treatment - if suitable – and discharge is a single day.

The treatment will be offered via a number of highly equipped units which will concentrate solely on varicose vein treatment. Each unit, when operating at full capacity, will be manned by a 15-strong medical team and will be able to treat over 2,500 patients each year.
